The Horseshoe Bay Fire Department is currently performing the annual Fire Hydrant Testing and Maintenance Program. This process serves several purposes:  The fire department obtains and records the water flows and pressures for fire insurance ratings, which will identify problems such as closed water valves or broken hydrants;  and hydrants will be greased and cleaned to assure they function properly, then painted to enhance their appearance and visibility.

In addition, the department will be working with property owners to remove obstructions such as plants, trees or fences to ensure that hydrants can be easily seen and accessed to protect life and property in Horseshoe Bay.

The following item is currently being considered by the City Council.  A link is provided for further information.

Your comments are encouraged and can be sent to city@horseshoe-bay-tx.gov or mailed to the City Secretary, City of Horseshoe Bay, PO Box 7765, Horseshoe Bay, Texas 78657-7765.

THE TEXAS COLORADO RIVER FLOODPLAIN COALITION NEEDS YOUR HELP!

The City of Horseshoe Bay is a member of this organization and is participating in a major update of the Coalition’s Hazard Mitigation Plan.  The purpose of this Plan is to identify and assess Horseshoe Bay’s natural hazard risks and determine how to best minimize or manage those risks.  Upon completion, the Plan will represent a comprehensive update to the 2004 Hazard Mitigation Plan, “Creating a Disaster Resistant Lower Colorado River Basin.”  The Coalition is seeking to ensure that the public, businesses and other stakeholders are given an opportunity to participate and comment.  Your help is requested in completing the Survey Questionnaire (click here). The information you provide will help the Coalition better understand your hazard concerns and can lead to mitigation activities that should help lessen the overall impact of future hazard events.  Thank you for your participation.
