About the Plant
The City of Horseshoe Bay treats its customer's wastewater at a treatment plant located west of Horseshoe Bay. The treatment plant is a Sequence Batch Reactor plant built by Aqua Aerobics. The plant was constructed in 1995-96 and has a treatment capacity of 800,000 gallons per day with a storm phase capacity of 1,200,000 gallons per day. The current capacity will provide for future demands for approximately 10 years before expansion will be required.
The treated effluent quality exceeds all state and federal permitted requirements. The treated effluent is stored in two storage holding ponds located at the site of the treatment plant. The stored effluent water is pumped through a continuous backwash, filtered and pressurized to irrigate the Ram Rock and Apple Rock Golf Courses in Horseshoe Bay West. All treated effluent is 100% recycled on the golf courses and none is returned to Lake LBJ.
