SOLID WASTE SERVICES

The Lake LBJ Municipal Utility District contracts with Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI) for garbage services for customers residing within the District boundariesThe City contracts with Allied Waste (BFI) for garbage services for customers residing within the City boundaries. Residential garbage is picked up each Monday in Horseshoe Bay Proper, North and South and each Tuesday in Horseshoe Bay West, Pecan Creek, Bay Country, The Trails, Applehead, and Applehead Island. Please contact the City at 830/598-8741 if you are experiencing any problems with your trash collection.

A recycle/compactor center is available for the use of City residents and is located approximately one-tenth of a mile north of Hwy 71 on Hwy 2831, adjacent to the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant.  The center is open Monday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., except on published City holidays.

Brush Disposal Ordinance

Also located at this site is the Brush Disposal site.  This facility is available only to residents of Horseshoe Bay and to permitted commercial customers that are hauling brush from within the corporate boundaries of the City of Horseshoe Bay. Commercial customers must obtain an annual permit from the City Utility office.  The operating hours for this facility are the same as the Recycle Center, however it may be closed due to wet weather conditions.

All potential users must first check with the Recycle Center Monitor and show valid proof of their eligibility to use the site; i.e. (A) a HSB resident should provide a no-cost, temporary permit available from the City Utility office or a copy of a recent City garbage bill (along with driver's license or other valid I.D., or (B) Commercial customers must show a copy of their annual permit and indicate the location within the HSB City limits where the brush originated.  

Due to the necessity for Security around the Wastewater Treatment Plant, all vehicles that enter this site will be recorded, and license numbers and operator name must be furnished

Rules - Disposal Site:

Ø The facility is only for organic materials.

Ø Loads must be placed in designated locations.

Ø No trash, plastic bags, construction materials, bricks, CMU blocks, or metal material is allowed.

Ø Bags holding organic material must be emptied and the bag removed from the site by the customer.

Ø Tree trunks must be cut into sections no longer than 4 feet in length.

Ø Vehicles must remain on designated roads as other areas of this site are high security and must not be entered.

Ø  Tampering with any wastewater facilities is considered a felony and will be prosecuted as such.

Fees - Disposal Site:

City Garbage Customer - There is no fee but a temporary permit or a copy of recent garbage bill is required.  Temporary permits are available at the City Utility Office.

Commercial - An Annual Permit Fee ($50.00) is required, along with load charges:

                 $     5.00 per pickup load

                 $   10.00 per trailer load

                 $ 100.00 per dump truck load
