[ARCHIVED] Update - Water Distribution System

Status of Water System Issues

The City’s Utility Department continues to work to restore water safety, capacity, and services. Presently we are experiencing issues producing enough water through our two water plants to fill our distribution system.  We are producing water and will continue to raise production levels towards maximum capacity.  This must be done carefully as to not create more broken pipes within the distribution system. This issue combined with many broken pipes in homes has caused the City’s water distribution to be depleted. It is the City’s highest priority to restore water service. All available staff is working towards this goal day and night.

We ask that once the water begins to be restored that all customers be very conservative until the system is back up to capacity for all of the Horseshoe Bay areas.  Also, any water used for consumption, ice or cooking must be boiled vigorously for 2 minutes before consuming as we are under a Boil Water Notice due to the loss of pressure.

Please contact (512)755-3994 if you have a broken pipe in your home so we can shut off the water until it is repaired. If you notice water flowing on the ground due to a broken water main, please contact the same number.  We are first prioritizing service calls to shut off broken pipes as this will help fill the distribution system. All other calls should go to the Utilities Dispatch and they will respond as soon as feasible. Currently, the service call center has had an overwhelming number of calls and we will address each one over time.

Again, restoring service is our highest priority. The City is working day and night to resolve the issues under extreme weather conditions, the same issue many other water systems are dealing with throughout the state. We are striving to restore water service sooner than later. We will send regular updates as progress is made.

Thanks for your patience.  Horseshoe Bay Utility Department
