The red light belongs to the grinder sewer system that serves your residence or business. If the light is on this indicates that your grinder system is not currently functioning correctly and needs maintenance. Please call the City Office, available 24/7, at 830-598-8741 and report the light to prevent overflow as the tank has limited capacity.

If the tank is overflowing and your light never came on that typically means that the grinder panel is experiencing a power loss. Please call the City Office, available 24/7, at 830-598-8741 and report the overflow. Please have an individual available at the residence who can operate the electrical breakers inside your home or business.
Your PRV is your Pressure Regulating Valve. The PRV lowers the water system pressure to a level that is deemed safe for household appliances by your plumbing contractor. The City of Horseshoe Bay has higher than typical water pressure due to the hilly terrain. Your PRV is usually located within a few feet of the water meter box on the customers side. It is the customer’s responsibility to maintain or replace your PRV. The exception would be is the PRV was installed before the city incorporated and the PRV is on the City’s side of the meter, if this is the case please call the City, Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm, at 830-598-8741 and we will replace and relocate PRV at no charge to you.
A PRV (Pressure Regulating Valve) failure can lead to inconsistent pressure at faucets or can result in high pressure that could cause possible damage to appliances.
The customer’s meter shut off is on the customer’s side of the meter. It is a good idea to familiarize yourself and any residents of your household with it’s location in the event of a water emergency requiring you to shut off your water quickly.

Public drinking water is regulated at both the state and federal levels. These agencies require water utility providers to meet specific testing and water quality standards.

A backflow preventer is a device that prevents unwanted reversals of flow of water or other liquids that could cause harm to people, cause a bad taste, or discolor drinking water. Backflow preventers, known to plumbing and irrigation professionals as backflow prevention assemblies, are required on all landscape irrigation systems and all automatic refill lines for swimming pools, fountains and garden ponds. All irrigation backflow preventers must be tested every 5 years, as well as upon installation or after servicing.
Storm water runoff is water that flows after a rainfall. During rainstorms, water drains off driveways, parking lots and streets picking up pollutants while flowing to the storm sewer system. Once storm water enters the storm sewer system of inlets, pipes or channels, it flows downstream to the nearest creek, lake or river.
Urban runoff also flows to the storm sewer system. Urban runoff is water from irrigation, over watering, car washing and other sources that travel into the street picking up pollutants.

The largest source of storm water pollution are pollutants such as litter, pet waste, pesticides, fertilizers, leaves and yard clippings and automotive leaks and spills. These materials are swept away with the storm water and produce what is referred to as non-point source pollution.
Harmful bacteria, chemicals, sediment and litter enters or blocks the storm drain and leads to flooding, impaired water quality and endangers the health and habitat of local wildlife.
The water that goes down the sanitary sewer system (from sinks or toilets) flows to a wastewater treatment plant where it is treated and filtered prior to entering any water bodies.
The stormwater and urban runoff water that flows down driveways and streets and into the storm sewer system flows directly to our creeks, lakes and rivers. Anything that enters a storm sewer system is discharged untreated into the water bodies we use for swimming, fishing and providing drinking water.

City Council regular meetings are normally scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. In order to allow the Council and staff additional time to work on the budget process, the first budget meeting is held in late June or early July and the August meetings are held the last Tuesday of the month.
