Elsie and her two sisters grew up in Jacksonville Texas. She graduated from Baylor University and started her career as a CPA in Dallas with Coopers and Lybrand, which is where she met her husband, Andy. They later moved to New Mexico where Elsie worked for Ernst and Young and Andy opened his own CPA practice. They raised their two wonderful sons in Santa Fe and, in addition to working part time in the accounting profession, Elsie spent a great deal of time with numerous volunteer activities.
Elsie and Andy discovered Horseshoe Bay in 2001 and began dividing their time between Horseshoe Bay and Santa Fe. Their first impression was that Horseshoe Bay is a beautiful place offering a lot of activities they enjoy and occupied by amazing, friendly, happy people. That is still the way they see it. The Thurman’s moved to Horseshoe Bay full time in 2010 and have both been involved in the community. Most recently, Elsie served as the Chair of the City’s 2020-21 Long Range Planning Advisory Committee.
They are the proud grandparents of 6 but unfortunately the grandchildren live in Cincinnati and Santa Barbara, which are way too far from Horseshoe Bay.
