Trash Cans Should Be Removed from the Street and Stored out of Public View

Trash cans are required to be removed from the street and stored out of public view

The City of Horseshoe Bay is an incredibly unique city known for its certified scenic views and dark skies as well as the golf courses and beautiful Lake LBJ.  The city continuously strives to keep this unique status by enforcing its city ordinances to achieve these goals and maintain the ultimate in beautiful Texas Hill Country living.

Big Blue Trash Bins are part of the City of Horseshoe Bay’s trash service which adorn the streets during trash pick-up days each week.  Now imagine these blue trash cans out in open public view day in and day out, how would the city look and how would we all feel if these trash bins were left out “24-7” 365 days a year?

You may have received “Friendly Reminders” via door delivery, US Mail, and/or affixed to the trash bins once the ordinance requirements are violated.  This is an attempt to provide notice or information of the city’s ordinance requirements to store out of view and remove trash bins from street after pick up.

The city ordinance (Ordinance 09-06-16A, sec. IV(e), adopted 6/16/09) requires all trash bins to be stored out of public view and view from neighboring lots as well as removed from street curb 6 hours after pick-up service. Failure to comply with this city ordinance can result in class C misdemeanor city ordinance citation.

This ordinance has an enforcement section (6.02.011) both criminal and civil remedies which carry fines in both categories.  The city’s goal is to achieve cooperation and compliance by our citizen adherence to the city ordinances.   The entire city Code of Ordinance may be found on our city website www.horseshoe-bay-tx.gov .

Our intent is to provide the great citizens of Horseshoe Bay the best service and city living experience possible.  Please do your part to maintain your city’s beautiful environment and city ordinance requirements.  Place the “blue trash bins” out of view during normal storage and remove from the street curb within 6 hours after trash pickup.  For more information on all city ordinances, visit the City of Horseshoe Bay website, www.horseshoe-bay-tx.gov , and/or call 830-598-8741 ext. 209 & 210.

Thank you for your cooperation and compliance and keeping your community beautiful.
