Elaine was born and reared in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  She left her home town in 1969, to begin a journey that would lead her to Little Rock, Arkansas; Memphis, Tennessee; Dallas, Texas and finally Horseshoe Bay.  In the years following 1969, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in General Education; Master’s Degree in Special Education; Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and multiple Certificates of Certification in various areas.  She served 40 years as a public educator in the roles of General and Special Education Teacher, Educational Diagnostician, Administrative Supervision, and Director of Special Education Services.  Additionally, she taught with Memphis State University in the role of recertification of teachers to meet upgraded state standards, as well as, the University Of North Texas General Education Department.

After retiring, Elaine joined Texas Tech University as an adjunct instructor and part of the team developing the Teach Across Texas program.  She also served on the Horseshoe Bay Property Owners Board of Directors for three years and was a CASA for the Highland Lakes area.  Currently she is the Vice-Chairman of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, TTU, a non-profit organization, where she also serves as the Chair of Curriculum Development.  Until recently, she served on the newly created City of Horseshoe Bay Board of Adjustment.

Since moving to Horseshoe Bay in 2009, she and Alexander have enjoyed spending more time with their blended family of five children and seven grandchildren.  They believe that every day in this wonderful community is rich with blessings.  Elaine has stated that they love Horseshoe Bay and the wonderful people who live here. They have discovered a sense of joy and peace that they previously had not enjoyed.
