COURT DOCKET AND APPEARANCE

All persons who enter the Municipal Court are subject to search of their person and their belongings. The court bailiff may use a hand wand upon your entering the courtroom.

Cell phones are not permitted in the courtroom. If you do bring a cell phone, the court bailiff will collect the cell phone and place it in a sealed bag until after your appearance in court.

Courtroom Attire

Unacceptable attire includes, but is not limited to:

  • Shorts and cutoffs
  • Muscle shirts, clothing with offensive, vulgar pictures or language
  • Clothing that is dirty, torn, or ragged
  • Clothing that is too short or too tight
  • Hats
  • For remote/virtual Hearings: please ensure the background is appropriate and that you are in a quiet environment.

Courtroom Conduct

Individuals representing themselves should be prepared to present their case in a proper manner. Please observe the following rules of courtroom decorum:

  • Be on time! The Judge will not see you if you arrive after the court session has begun
  • Do not argue with the Court
  • Address the court as "Judge" or "Your Honor"
  • Address other court personnel and opposing party as "Mr.", "Ms.", "Officer"
  • Do not read newspapers, magazines or books during courtroom proceedings
  • Do not talk at the same time as the court, opposing counsel or witnesses
  • Do not enter and leave the courtroom excessively
  • Obscene, profane, sexist or racist language or gestures are prohibited
  • Do not approach the Judge's bench without permission
  • No food or drinks allowed in the courtroom
