The first meeting of the City of HSB’s newly formed Historic Preservation Advisory Committee (HPAC) was held on Thursday, April 14. The committee will serve as an advisory body to the City Council. Their responsibilities include identifying potential historic preservation goals and strategies for the City. They will also locate, collect, document and store known artifacts and/or documents that help define the history of HSB. Councilman Jerry Gray will serve as liaison to the City Council. City Manager Jeff Koska will serve as City Staff liaison. The HPAC Charter was adopted by the City Council on April 19, 2022, and will soon be available on the City website.
HSB celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2021. HPAC members agreed that as HSB ages, documents and photos have become scattered around the community in closets, drawers and boxes. They will strive to collect these items of cultural or historical interest and plan ways to consolidate and display them for all residents to enjoy.
