Dear Horseshoe Bay Water Customer:
Are you interested in learning some things that will help you reduce utility bills, improve your home’s appearance, and conserve water? Then please consider coming to Horseshoe Bay’s second-annual irrigation workshop for residents and business owners.
The workshop will run from 10 a.m. to noon this Thursday, April 6, at Horseshoe Bay City Hall, #1 Community Drive in City Council Chambers. The free workshop will feature Brett Briant, water conservation coordinator for the Lower Colorado River Authority, and Horseshoe Bay water conservation inspector Bill Teeter. Discussions will cover efficient irrigation practices, developing soil for maximum plant health, conservation during times of plenty, rebates and sprinkler system repairs.
We invite all Horseshoe Bay water customers and any interested persons in the LCRA service area to attend. Brett will talk for about 45 minutes and Bill will speak briefly about irrigation from the City’s perspective. Both will remain available for questions and individual chats with participants after the presentations. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity. Irrigation experts say that between 20 and 50 percent of water consumed by automatic sprinkler systems is wasted. Incorrect time settings, evaporation, overspray onto paved areas, leaky pipes and broken heads all contribute to the waste and unneeded financial cost to maintain your landscape’s health and appearance. For most of our households, more than half the annual consumption and most of our customers’ utilities expenses result from landscape irrigation, so losses from waste are sure to be considerable. Learning a few things about irrigation can mean substantial savings in the amount of water used and in your money spent for water.
