HORSESHOE BAY AND THE LIONS TEAM UP FOR A FOOD DRIVE!
The City of Horseshoe Bay and the Spicewood & Highland Lakes Lions Club are teaming up to conduct a food drive in Horseshoe Bay. All donations will support the Helping Center in Marble Falls, part of the Central Texas Food Bank.
Food collection will take place on Saturday November 21st in the City of Horseshoe Bay parking lot. Donations will be accepted by Lions club members from 9 AM to Noon on that day. Donors will be able to simply drive through and club members will accept the food items without anyone having to exit their vehicle. In this way, we can all maintain social distancing and stay safe. All club members will be wearing masks and gloves during the drop-off.
Many families in the local area are struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic. It will be even more difficult for them during the holidays since many will not be able to buy what they need for a typical Thanksgiving dinner. The food bank has plenty of turkeys and hams and canned vegetables but is in need of other items normally served at Thanksgiving. Those include such items as boxed stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, canned or dry gravy mix, and fresh sweet potatoes.
Citizens of Horseshoe Bay, along with Council Members and Staff, have historically been key contributors to the needs of the communities in the past. We are honored to once again partner with the City of Horseshoe Bay and express our gratitude toward the generosity shown by all.
For more information about the food bank and the staples they prefer to collect, you can visit their website at www.helpingcenter.org, or you may call (830) 693-5689, or email info@helpingcenter.org. There are many common food items needed and their website contains a listing of those.
