The City of Horseshoe Bay City Council approved a proclamation at the April 13th Council meeting declaring the week of May 2-8, 2021 as "Municipal Clerks Week" in Horseshoe Bay. The office of the Municipal Clerk (aka City Secretary), is a time honored and vital position in local government which exists throughout the world, and is the local government equivalent to the US Secretary of State and the Texas Secretary of State. The City Secretary position is the oldest among public servants, with mention of the position in the Bible, and Greek and Roman history. The office provides a professional link between the citizens, the local governing body, and agencies of government at other levels. City Secretaries provide a multitude of services to their community and local government including conducting elections, recording and preserving records, providing information and services to citizens, and codifying legislative activities of the governing body. The City of Horseshoe Bay would like to thank City Secretary Kerri Craig and Deputy City Secretary Janet Stehling for providing outstanding service to our community and local government on a daily basis, constantly striving to protect resources, provide transparency in all aspects of local government, and to preserve our heritage while planning for our future!
