Hard Freeze Expected by Thursday Morning including Winter Storm Warning for the City of Horseshoe Bay Communities.
According to the National Weather Service forecasts for our area, precautions should be taken to protect “pets, plants and pipes” as well as people when a Winter Strom warning is issued in the area. Freeze warnings are issued by the National Weather Service Austin when the weather is expected to bring sub-freezing temperatures and freezing precipitation to the area. This will make travel conditions very dangerous. All roads, elevated surfaces and walkways could have ice accumulations from 12AM Wednesday night through possibly Monday.

Prepare to Protect Pipes, Plants, and Pets
Widespread freezing temperatures during nighttime hours are expected Wednesday night through Monday morning. Temperatures can be as low as mid 20's or lower during nighttime hours. Wrap or drip outside faucets and pipes. Bring pets and plants into heated areas to protect them from the freeze. Turn off irrigation systems. Know where your water shut-off is located in case of broken pipes that may freeze in exposed areas.
Please check in on your neighbors who may need assistance preparing for the hard freeze event.
Call the Utilities Department if assistance is needed to turn off your service in the event of a broken pipe. Dial (830) 598-8741 and follow prompts.
