At the January 17th City Council meeting, Mayor Steve Jordan read aloud a proclamation stating January 22, 2017 shall hereafter be known as "Stanley Keith Guffey Day" in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. Stan Guffey was a Texas Ranger who was killed in the line of duty in 1987 while rescuing a kidnapped two-year-old girl in Horseshoe Bay, who was safely returned to her family. A monument honoring Ranger Guffey will be dedicated on Saturday, January 21st at 2:00pm at the Horseshoe Bay Police Department. Members of Ranger Guffey's family, local officials, and representatives from law enforcement agencies will be in attendance. The Horseshoe Bay community is invited and encouraged to attend.
